
The Princess became involved in education long before the idea of Effat College was born. Her mother ran the Dar al Ekma all-girls school, a position which Princess Loulwah took over, and transformed from a simple job into a mission. “We obtained permission too start a private school, and created Effat College. We were gran- ted the first licence in the Kingdom!” But models of women’s colleges were not exactly the norm in Saudi Arabia, so Princess Loulwah turned to the West for inspiration.
