After having most, if not all the fashion houses in Europe thank him very politely for his interest, but refuse to sell him their collection for distribution in the Middle East, Mr. Al Sabah turned to the US to try and float his idea. He hooked up with licensing expert Reggie Morton, who fielded his idea for a fashion / lifestyle center to several of the major brands with whom she worked. With Ms. Morton's brokering, Sheikh Majed signed on Donnatella Versace, Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Oscar de la Renta and a host of major and some minor, but very creative, fashion brands.
