
Aside from focusing on narrowing the core businesses, Mr. Al Gharabally's strategy to maintain growth in the face of dwindling private sector markets, has been to acquire companies in areas he wants to get into: Al Alamiah bought such companies as Universe Computers, a Gold Cisco Partner rated number 1 in customer satisfaction among Cisco partners from Morocco to Pakistan. He used Universe to look outside Kuwait for other opportunities. They bid on tenders in Saudi Arabia and Qatar and the result was a $20 Million project for an oil company infrastructure and networking project in the KSA that has enabled Universe to open a Saudi office and look to bidding on larger projects in the future.
