Hard journalism was the last thing on Abdul Wahab Al Faiz’s mind when he began reading voraciously at the age of 12. He had a dream of becoming a novelist or a poet. By the time he reached university at the age of 18, he knew he wanted to be a writer and started working at a newspaper while he was studying. He found he not only liked hard news, but he had a talent for reporting it. Upon graduating, he joined Al Riyadh newspaper in Riyadh as an editor, but soon accepted a post at the Ministry of Finance that allowed him to explore both his talent for news and creative writing. He became a TV scriptwriter in the Media Department in the Ministry.
