Between obtaining political rights and getting women in the parliament Dr. Dashti has changed much of the social dynamic in Kuwait and the region. Being a women activist and economic lobbiest and a member of higher supreme council for planning and development gave voters more confidence that women could get the job done. Certainly there is a sharp increase in pressure from elements that would still like to demean women's role in politics and decision making but Dr. Dashti and her col- leagues have met this challenge by providing extraordinary performance, so women in the future will also have the chance to participate.
